Leyla Aydoslu is a qualified painter who now works as a contemporary 'sculptor' using three-dimensional elements. She develops a very idiosyncratic approach to the conditions of the art of painting within a sculptural and architectural context. Leyla Aydoslu collects seemingly worthless and discarded materials in order to create site-specific constructions. Both the materials and the body play a central role in this sculptural work.
The work communicates a directness and a necessity that surpass theory. Her constructions are sensual, smart, direct, and reflective of the surrounding landscape and the history of painting - all at the same time.
