Octave Vandeweghe

Originally, Octave located the source of his work in the clash between function and beauty. His fascination for gemstones grew when he saw the similarity between flint knives from prehistoric times and cut gemstones. That is why his work explores how beauty becomes function and vice versa. More recently, he was captivated by the signs and magical properties that people have traditionally attributed to stones. Through his confrontation of raw crystals with utensils or industrially manufactured elements, he cultivates a supernatural tension between nature and culture.

Daaruit ontstond het project ‘A Brilliant Cut’.
